Is it silly for me to take clarinet lessons my senior year in high school?

I will be a senior in high school next year and it wasn't until this year that I really began thinking about what I will do with all of my music experience of the past ten or so years. I played piano and took piano lessons for about 8 years and I took up clarinet in 5th grade. I stopped taking piano lessons near the end of my freshman year and never took up clarinet lessons but I really love playing music and I want to move up in position in band next year and hopefully go to state for solo/ensemble competition. My question is, would it be silly to start taking clarinet lessons now and should I even think about playing in college? Or is it more realistic to just finish out my high school career in band and then move on to something else once I get to college? Am I too late?
